'BRITAIN'S GOT TALONS' - by Copper Kites
[Wo wo wo wo-oh ... / Wo wo wo wo-oh]
Singing riddles and rhymes
Of our modern knavery
These are the flashing blades
Of our epoch's carvery
Claws of a killer beast
Sharpened for your butcher-priest
Play parts, lives entwined
In slavery to desire.
The beats are mashed / Teeth gritted gnashed / The body smashed.
Aggressive acts / In flames, the rash / Wield bloody axe.
So over-taxed / With ears of wax / Deaf to the facts.
The walking dead / The devil's text / Display the lack.
Shriek out the parables
Of this greed and poverty.
Wailing a tale of woe,
Waste and austerity.
This is a primal scream
To midnight technologies,
Superseding
Human being.
It's all attack / Nothing distracts / This donkey dance.
The body bags / Barcoded packs/ Souls sold as snacks.
The underclass / The overdraft / So overcast.
The bloody blags / The strings they slash / The bling, the flash.
Wo wo wo wo-oh ...
Reeking sewer things,
Deluge, excreting dreams.
Farewell, forgotten trades:
Guilds and skills now lost and faded.
Sing out a lullabye
Of destitution and confusion
But first serve his master's voice
Money, drugs, guns and vice
Gamble, place your bet
From sunrise to sunset.
The state we're in / The chip, the pin / Hormones and glands
The core, the pith / The monolith / The cyberman
The mega-riff / Machine-gear-shift / Eternal drone
The monotone / The colour clone / Sink like a stone.
Singing riddles and rhymes
Of our modern knavery
These are the flashing blades
Of our epoch's carvery
Claws of a killing beast
Sharpened for your butcher-priest
Play parts, lives entwined
In slavery to desire.

'HARD HATS' - by Copper Kites
Put your hard hats on
Here come the hawks’ talons.
Beware the pecking of the beast
The smashing of your shell.
Put your hard hats on
Here come the hawks’ talons.
Beware the pecking of the beak
The smashing of your shell.
It leaves me feeling cold. Iceman freezing cold.
Put your bullet proof vest on
Here come the aimless shooting guns.
Beware the ricochet of bullets
The stray danger of hot metal.
Put your bullet proof vest on
Here come the aimless shooting guns.
Beware the ricochet of bullets
The stray danger of hot metal (hot metal).
It leaves me feeling cold. Iceman freezing cold.
It leaves me feeling cold. Iceman freezing cold.
Confusion on the networks (“Confusion on the networks”)
Put your harness to a heaven
Beware the fall into the canyon.
Compare the constant competition
Suck in dreary derision.

It leaves me feeling cold. Iceman freezing cold.

Landfill

'LANDFILL' - by Copper Kites
(Woaahhh …)
(Huh! Yeah. Duh!)
Detritus: they’re so full of it.
Dissection of the human abattoir
Consumer, with an alibi
Delusions, and pathetic pride.
Yes. It’s a landfill. A mountain rise,
Detritus. Bandwidth filled.
A cardiac - a cardiac deficit
Such tear-less eyes
From a steely gaze
Expedient to market wills,
Cheap thrills and expensive spills
Yes!
(Whoo-oh-oh) It’s a landfill. A mountain rise
(Whoo-oh-oh) Detritus. Bandwidth filled.
(Whoo-oh-oh) On a plastic island. In a lifeless sea,
(Whoo-oh-oh) With Doctor Death and Sister Hell.
Huh!
Illusions, on their paths to gold
Confusions – cognitive dissonance.
Consumer – with alibi.
Collusion and pathetic pride.
Yes.
(Whoo-oh-oh) It’s a landfill
(Whoo-oh-oh) A mountain rise
(Whoo-oh-oh) Detritus
(Whoo-oh-oh) Bandwidth filled
(Whoo-oh-oh) On a plastic island
(Whoo-oh-oh) In a lifeless sea
(Whoo-oh-oh) With Doctor Death
(Whoo-oh-oh) And Sister Hell.

'HEART / BREAK' - by Copper Kites
I don’t believe a word you say - the shape your mouth makes
In the light of day - we’re talking horse-shit
Smile away while you lie. The tape denotes a fake
Your trickery betrayed: you'd take it all.
We’re all whores and we have our price
Sell ourselves to the highest bid
Settle scores caught in yesterday’s wars
Where the winner has the highest debt
I’ll keep my eye on you, for signs you’re on the take
Do you practice what you preach? Are you talking dogs hit?
The crocodile tears display – the surplus value made
Misrepresent the concept: fraudulent courtship
We’re all whores without a cause
Sell ourselves to the highest bid
Torrid tours along the crumbling walls
Before the bulldozers come to call
Appetites are never satisfied
Only out for a free ride
Costumes and props – a sting with a con
Hustle your way out of family and friends
You don’t display your marks. You’ve got your camouflage
And if no one asks, you don’t need an answer
It’s just your honesty – time to use a mirror
Nothing could be clearer. Nothing could be clearer.
We’re all whores without a cause
Sell ourselves to the highest bid
Torrid tours along the crumbling walls
Before the bulldozers come to call
Appetites are never satisfied
Only out for a free ride
Costumes and props – a sting with a con
Hustle your way out of family and friends
I sold my soul cheap. I sold my soul cheap. I sold my soul cheap.
We sold our souls cheap.
Heart. Heart. Break. Break. Break. Break.
I felled a forest. I felled a forest. I felled a forest.
We felled a forest.
Heart. Heart. Break. Break. Break. Break.
