[Bo-bo-bo] Truth comes in plastic packaging Appearing as if from thin air Devoured - by consuming eyes Powered - by all those lies Jet engines roar above Their thirst never quenched With the wonder of the other Convenience of useful time Lala la. La la-la Am I listening? Are you listening? Are we wasting our time? (x3) Constrained by arrangements Lick hot coals with forked tongue Watch as it all goes wrong Those termites with their terror-bytes Snatch for a stupid song Coffin-carrying by rota Look beneath the stone It’s still ticking over at the local crematorium Barbed-wire thickets punctuate this landscape Where all roads lead to a lonely place Barbed-wire thickets punctuate this landscape As all roads lead to this lonely space The measure of a project Chalked up on an old blackboard Equations to the elements Erasure of all those words Pilgrims plug in to the programme Now they preach in unison Deranged and complacent Lick hot coals with forked tongues [Ooooo Oooooo] Busy building bombastic monoliths Artificial scenery Draping in the cloth, of the colour of Our broken hearts Lala la. La la-la Broken hearts… [Ooooo Oooooo]

PAPACENTRIC DEATH COAT Shouting men are wielding sticks Packs of dogs that want their meat Missiles fly in far-flung fields Bloodied soil where there was wheat Papacentric Death Coat Are you wearing the killer fashion? Papacentric Death Coat Products of distressed souls These spirits haunt our present age Wax and wane across the stage Dogs drive creatures of despair A shadow falls on a blank page Papacentric Death Coat Are you wearing the killer fashion? Papacentric Death Coat Products of distressed souls Papacentric Death Coat Are you wearing the killer fashion? Papacentric Death Coat Products of distressed souls The crashing moments of a life Over in a short, sharp shock Papacentric Death Coat Are you wearing the killer fashion? Papacentric Death Coat Products of distressed souls Ohhhh Ohhh Ohh.

Wounded Dog 05:33
WOUNDED DOG Doesn't it just go to show we're in a flea circus, So transient? Always moving, continually in the now With this colour and cut. Didn't anybody tell you it was worth the wait, Show some patience? And are you going to get yourself in a vexed state Against the odds? We're digging a hole to bury a cat Cremate the waiting Watched by an owl who comes to kill Won't you help me? Wasn't there somebody else you could have asked To top and tail your task? Wouldn't you know we've got a cartwheel to perform On broken glass! As a curled woodlouse I'm caught In Charlotte's world-wide-web, Stuck in a speck of dust spinning Blue in a sunbeam. … (Procession of wounded dogs) A cat's chorus sing to a procession of wounded dogs … (Procession of wounded dogs) Rusty agricultural machinery. Didn't anybody tell you there is another verse? Hook. Line. Stinker. Maybe we could do it all in reverse? - Esrever ni lla ti od dluoc ew ebyam As a curled woodlouse I'm caught In Charlotte's world-wide-web! Living with a world on my back At Crow-call Crag! [repeat] [banshee break-edelia. Intro-style] A cat's chorus sings to a procession of wounded dogs … (Procession of wounded dogs) Rusty agricultural machinery … (Procession of wounded dogs) The cat's chorus sing to a procession of wounded dogs … (Procession of wounded dogs) Rusty agricultural machinery … (Procession of wounded dogs) [repeat] … (Procession of wounded dogs)

about

The second in a series of EPs from Bristol's Copper Kites.

WATCH THE VIDEOS TOO. Each of the four songs on Red Questions has an accompanying punk-art video. Enjoy them at 'GnomeTube' the YouTube channel for 'Uncontrolled Borders' - home of Herb Garden family and friends.

Words and music, composed, performed and produced by Copper Kites. All four videos were filmed and produced by Copper Kites.

Red Questions is a gothic, mini-musical horror show:

1. ‘Bombastic Monoliths’ was first put together after we played with our own sample in the recording studio – an idea around a ‘bom-bom’ vocal motif and electro-folk noodle. Featuring Tibetan finger cymbals.

2. ‘Dead Dreams’ is a later composition. Actually started in winter 2012/13 and halted mid-flow as changes in our lives took sudden turns. We lost and gained people in our lives. Music stopped for a bit. Bloody and earthy, Dead Dreams simultaneously rocks the cradle then dances gleefully on some graves. Nice!

3. ‘Papacentric Death Coat’ is a strange mix of disco-punk and gothic-horror funk. It started its life around the time of 'Dead Dreams', from a riff welded together by Rat and Carl in the Kites’ new mastering Shed.

4. ‘Wounded Dog’. Definitely the earliest composition on Red Questions, one which was formed quite swiftly (for us) but took a while for us to be happy with it.

We conceived these songs in a previous life and the Red Questions idea in 2014. The music is the beating metal wings of our post-punk ‘bird of prey’ incarnation. From our vantage points above the skyline we dive down to collect what’s ours for the taking. But we give and take musically and culturally. We do this in blank masks to avoid false emotion and to remove ambiguity from the creative process. In mythology the goddess Isis took the form of a kite to resurrect the dead. We wear the masks of our mythical bird-selves to breathe life into our music. A higher power told us to act in this way.
